Bills of Exchange Ordinance

(1)
A person who makes, accepts or indorses a bill for, in the name of, on behalf
                of or on account of a company shall not be liable in respect of that making,
                acceptance or indorsement where, on a proper construction of the bill as a whole,
                that making, acceptance or indorsement is a making, acceptance or indorsement of
                that company.

In subsection (1),

                and includes a non-Hong Kong company as defined by that section.

This section shall apply to the making, acceptance or indorsement of a bill
                after the
                commencement*
                of the Bills of Exchange (Amendment) Ordinance 1983 (
16 of
                    1983
).
