Interpretation
In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise
requires—
acceptance
(
承兌
) means an acceptance completed by delivery or
notification;
action
(
法律行動
) means action or suit and includes
counterclaim and set-off;
banker
(
銀行
) includes a body of persons, whether
incorporated or not, who carry on the business of banking;
bankrupt
(
破產人
) includes any person whose estate is vested
in a trustee or assignee under the law relating to bankruptcy;

bearer
(
持票人
) means the person in possession of a bill or
note which is payable to bearer;
bill
means bill of exchange, and
note
means promissory note;
delivery
(
交付
) means transfer of possession, actual or
constructive, from one person to another;
general
holiday
(
公眾假期
) has the same meaning as in the General
Holidays Ordinance (
Cap. 149
);

holder
(
持有人
) means the payee or indorsee of a bill or
note who is in possession of it, or the bearer thereof;
indorsement
(
背書
) means an indorsement completed by
delivery;
issue
(
發給
) means the first delivery of a bill or note,
complete in form, to a person who takes it as a holder;
person
(
人
) includes a body of persons, whether
incorporated or not;
value
(
價值
) means valuable consideration.
