COURT: Accused, you stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
It is to your credit that you stand so convicted on your own plea of guilty at the Magistrates' Court, and today you confirm that plea before me. The quantity involved is 83.75 grammes of a mixture containing 48.50 grammes of heroin hydrochloride. In my view, the appropriate starting point for that quantity is about 7½ years' imprisonment. You are 34 years old now. You have been in trouble before, some of them drug related. Having taken into account everything that has been urged on your behalf by your counsel, particularly your early plea of guilty and your co-operation with the police, I give you the full one-third discount, and I sentence you to 5 years’ imprisonment. So you are sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment.
