COURT: Accused, I have taken into account everything urged in mitigation by your counsel on your behalf.
You stand convicted of one charge of trafficking in dangerous drugs. You have pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to this court for sentence today.
The quantity of drugs involved in this case are 0.99 kilogramme of a mixture containing 0.61 kilogramme of heroin hydrochloride and 0.1 kilogramme of 6-monoacetylmorphine hydrochloride.
These drugs were imported into Hong Kong which calls for enhancement.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 20½ years, enhance it by 1 year, making a total of 21½ years’ imprisonment.
Having taken into account everything urged on your behalf, including your plea of guilty, I shall give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the starting point to one of 14 years and 4 months’ imprisonment.
You will therefore go to prison for 14 years and 4 months.
