Reasons for judgment

Hon Yeung JA (giving Reasons for Judgment of the Court):

1.  On 18 August 2005, we handed down our judgment dismissing Mr Choy Bing Wing – the Respondent’s appeal against Hartmann J’s order setting down the hearing of the Contempt Proceedings against him together with the necessary directions.

2.  Mr Choy sought leave to appeal against our judgment to the Court of Final Appeal. However, he did not appear at the hearing and instead simply submitted written arguments. We could not find any question of great general and public importance or any issue that ought to be submitted to the Court of Final Appeal.

3.  There was no valid basis upon which we could accede to Mr Choy’s application.

4.  The application was therefore dismissed with costs to be taxed.
