COURT: Accused, you have been convicted as charged by the
jurors’ verdict. I have taken into account everything said on
your behalf by your counsel. I have done so in order to pass on you
the most lenient sentence which I can pass without departing from my
duty to pass an appropriate sentence. In doing so, I have taken into
account everything capable of amounting to mitigation on your
behalf.
For this quantity of drugs, leaving aside for the moment the enhancement called for by the fact that this offence involved the importation of drugs into Hong Kong, I consider a sentence of 23 years’ imprisonment appropriate.
As to enhancement, I consider an enhancement by 2 years’ imprisonment appropriate.
In the result, I sentence you to 25 years’ imprisonment.
