DECISION ON COSTS

1.  I have considered the plaintiffs’ statement of costs of 4 November 2021 for HK$161,860, the defendants’ objections of 11 November 2021 proposing HK$76,900 be deducted, and the plaintiffs’ response of 18 November 2021.

2.  I agree with the defendants’ objections that there are some duplications of work in sections C1, C2, C3 and D1.  I however find counsel’s fee to be reasonable.   

3.  Adopting a broad brush approach, I summarily assess the costs under that statement of costs at HK$130,000.

4.  I have considered the defendants’ statement of costs of 4 November 2021 for HK$34,390, the plaintiffs’ objections of 11 November 2021 proposing only HK$12,490 to be allowed, and the defendants’ response of 18 November 2021.

5.  I agree that some of the claimed costs should be assessed down as no certificate for counsel has been granted.  Adopting a broad brush approach, I summarily assess the costs under that statement of costs at HK$18,000.
