COURT: Lau Ngai-ping, I have taken into account everything urged on your behalf. You stand convicted on one charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
You have pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court and you have been committed to this court for sentence.
The quantity of drugs involved is 27.42 grammes of a crystalline solid containing 27.13 grammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride.
All things considered, I adopt a starting point of 8 years. Having taken into account everything urged on your behalf including your early plea of guilty, I am going to give you the full one-third discount, thereby reducing the sentence to one of 5 years and 4 months. You are therefore sentenced to 5 years and 4 months’ imprisonment.
